Estela de Abánades

A simple and ancient mortuary site is situated at the old cemetery in Abánades, Guadalajara, directly across from the renowned atrium of Romanesque style at San Pedro Church. Along its sides are a Greek cross, two six-petaled flowers, and a concise epigraphic testimony. The relief on its front appears to depict an angel with a scroll suspended beneath a dove that holds an olive branch in its beak. Signs indicate it may have suffered architectural reuse at some point.
