The monument to the emigrant sailor was sculpted by Maxín Picallo of Cuntis. In the late nineties, Luis Pérez Álvarez, known as Luis de Nacidas, formed a commission to acquire a monument in honor of emigrants and sailors. By 1988, already deceased the promoter, a piece from the renowned sculptor Magín Picallo of Cuntis was installed on the promenade. It was subsidized with contributions from neighbors, the City Council, the Provincial Delegation and the Regional Government. The immigrant appears with a sack on his back, the sailor, with the net in hand. On each side are his women, symbolizing one, the pain of those who lost their husband at sea and the other, with a dove in hand, hope for return.
