The statue of Saint Isidore sleeping and the Angel was created by Santiago Costa i Vaqué. This statue is located in the Jardín de la Dalieda, now a rose garden, next to the Church of San Francisco el Grande in Madrid. The statue was placed in this location in 2007, one of four sculptural groups that adorned the fountain dedicated to Juan de Villanueva, designed by architect Víctor D'Ors in 1943 and installed in the San Vicente plaza in 1952. This sculpture was restored when a replica of the San Vincente Gate was built in 1994 and the fountain without sculptures was moved to Camoens Walkway, in the West Park of Madrid.
