Esso 3D HotPen Rest
myminifactory
Hi everyone, I'm excited to share my first DIY project with you, which I created using just scraps from my 3D doodle pen. As a frequent user of both my 3D pen and glue gun, I always found myself needing to put them down for a few seconds due to phone calls or kids demanding attention, but I never had anywhere to rest them without risking burns or hot plastic/glue damage. I designed this stand to be as versatile as possible, accommodating most 3D pens (I've gone through a few!). To assemble it, you'll need one empty can and the cut-high guide from P3 to measure. Cutting the bottom off the can will create the base unit (P1), which will catch any excess plastic or hot melty stuff. You can also use the remaining spaces to customize the pen support parts to your desired height and angle, and even lower the stands to surface height for direct contact with the hot end. Since you can easily remove and replace the can end, feel free to experiment with various mess piles of different materials and glues to create unique structures. The stands sit snugly on the base without any additional support, but you'll need some assistance to personalize height and angle. Once you're satisfied with your setup, you can either glue it in place or leave it loose for easier transport or storage – it's sturdy enough to hold its own. The kit comes with two supports, allowing you to accommodate different pen sizes or multiple pens, so feel free to experiment with combinations to make the stand your own. This project will make more sense when you see the pictures I've included. I hope you find this stand as useful as I have! Happy printing and designing in Flashprint.
