Espresso machine steam wand nut
pinshape
Summary This threaded nut securely holds the steam wand onto the shaft of a Via Venezia Espresso coffee machine. It's infuriating when the nut splits, rendering it useless. Thanks to this creation, which works perfectly, I can easily print another one if this one fails. Print Settings Printer: 3DStuffmaker Prusa Explorer Rafts: No Supports: No Resolution: .4 Infill: 10% Notes: Orange PLA. Scale in X,Y axis by a couple of % if it's too tight to fit properly. Post-Printing Printed in vibrant orange PLA, using Simplify3D to slice and print each part within about 9 minutes. Design Process I carefully measured the steam wand shaft diameter, top hole diameter, and thread diameter before counting the threads along its length. Then, I made an educated guess. As it turns out, this is a 12.44 mm shaft with 1mm threads running approximately 5 threads per 6mm - roughly a 1.25H thread. It took four attempts and two redesigns to get it right in the end. The final nut diameter is about 12.6 mm, fitting tightly onto the wand. I designed this nut using 123D Design after watching Calvin Echols' "Create a Nut And Bolt in 123D Design for 3D Printing Tutorial" on YouTube.
