ESP8266 Matrix Display Case
thingiverse
I wanted to build a simple enclosure for my MAX7219 display and ESP8266 (NodeMCU 1.0) with a CP2102 chip, which I was using for a project at our local makerspace. Since I aimed for minimal soldering, straightforward wiring, and an easy-to-understand sketch that connects to an NTP server, displays the time, date, and shows a user-defined custom message. I started by powering off my USB port or cellphone wall adapter. Later on, November 8, 2018, I updated everything to include a sloping case design, improved slide-in mount, strain relief for the USB cable, and added two mounts depending on the type of LED Matrix Panel used (mounting holes vary). December 21, 2018 saw me add a large matrix mount that would accept an ESP32 Dev board. Finally, June 7, 2019 marked the addition of a more universal matrix panel mount.
