ESD Grounding Plate

ESD Grounding Plate. I'm really impressed with this design so I decided to remix it instead of creating my own from scratch. You can find the original at: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4022034. I increased the hole size to fit a standard US green grounding screw, and removed the threads. The grounding screw will self-tap into place. I also reinforced the grounding screw mount point, knowing that at some point I'd likely hit the cord and break it off. Since I couldn't find the exact banana jacks used, I replaced them with cheap ebay jacks (shown in the picture). Remove the outer sleeve and the jacks are a light press fit. This design allows for supports to be avoided altogether. To add extra protection, I also included a strut as I'm pretty sure I'll end up bumping it at some point. I printed this plate at 35% in ABS and it's incredibly strong. It should withstand all but the most severe impacts. The Freecad source is provided for those who want to remix this design. Update: Finally, I installed it. #4 sheet metal screws were too thin, so I used what looked like two #6 sheet metal screws instead. It's solid enough that I can shake my entire bench by pulling on the plate.
