Escultura de León (Siglo II a.C. - II d.C.)
sketchfab
This lion's head, set at an angle, allows it to be classified within the group of lions considered Iberian-Romans. This attribution is due to its proximity to Helenistic groups, art that developed significantly in the Iberian Peninsula since Roman conquest. The function of this sculpture would be to protect the deceased, situated in the tombs of pioneering Italian colonists in Upper Andalusia or fully Romanized Iberians in very early phases. The chronology presented would be defined for the group of Hispanic-Roman lions dated between the 2nd century BC and the 2nd century AD. Google Arts & Culture
