Escultura de León (Siglo I a.C. - I d.C.)
sketchfab
This lion belongs to an iconic type typical of the 1st century B.C. with a funerary character, as shown by its placement on a plinth, with the function of protecting the tomb and its owner, who appears to have Italian influence. This type of iconography has been associated with settlements with Roman troops, as well as an early colonization of high-level Italian population in Upper Andalusia, relating to a very early process of romanization in this region. The lion is found reclining on a plinth, with its jaws slightly open and its tongue hanging from the lower jaw, and between the front claws is sculpted in relief a bull's head, with nasal orifices and mouth simply outlined.
