Colonial Jesuit temple, built on the Royal Palace of Amarucancha in 1571 by Huayna Cápac, is one of the most beautiful buildings in Cusco's city. It has a central nave with six side chapels, underground chapels surrounded by labyrinths and secret passageways where notable figures from Spanish conquest and colonial era were buried. The temple is decorated with large paintings and sculptures carved into wood. Rebuilt in 1651, it stands facing the Plaza de Armas.
