Escher Lizard
thingiverse
Escher's iconic lizard reimagined in 3D artistry using SolidWorks software. Each profile features artistic striations when printed with a standard .010 inch per layer FDM printer, angled at 60 degrees. Interlocking pieces follow a 1-inch hexagonal pattern, demonstrating the precision and resolution capabilities of the printer. The design showcases the X, Y, and Z coordinates' resolutions, highlighting the finesse in detail. To create this masterpiece, I imported a JPG image and traced the Escher Lizard on a 1-inch hexagonal base in SolidWorks. I removed redundant lines and rotated the profile 120 degrees on specific vertices of the hexagon. The lizard was extruded twice - once without draft and once with, requiring minor adjustments for symmetry and plane alignment.
