Eros Borghese at The Louvre, Paris

myminifactory

This statue originally belonged to Domenico Biondo, a trusted butler of Pope Paul V Borghese. It entered the esteemed Scipione Borghese collection in 1806. The wings, arms, and legs of Eros (formerly known as the Genius Borghese) have been skillfully adapted by modern craftsmen. In the eighteenth century, Winckelmann, a renowned German art historian and archaeologist, was particularly fond of this piece and recognized its significance in Hellenistic works, clearly distinguishing between Greek, Greco-Roman, and Roman art. Today, this masterpiece is considered one of the seven most valuable acquisitions of the Borghese collection by France. This remarkable object is part of "Scan The World", a groundbreaking non-profit initiative launched by MyMiniFactory to create a digital archive of fully 3D printable sculptures, artworks, and landmarks from around the globe for public access.
