Ericsson Ericophon
thingiverse
This is a 3D scan of an Ericsson Ericophon - a modernist design from Sweden, produced between 1958 and 1965. It was the first commercially sold telephone that included both the handset and dial in one single piece, and had a significant influence on future telephone designs. Discover more about this iconic phone at our website. Background This object was one of ten Museum pieces scanned in 3D for Hack the Collection, a public program during the 2014 Sydney Design Festival. The event matched ten contemporary Sydney designers with ten objects from the Museum's collection. Designers spent two intense days in the Festival FabLab, creatively manipulating the 3D object files to design their own unique interpretations in full view of an enthusiastic public. At the end of the weekend, the designers' remixed objects were 3D printed on MakerBots and displayed alongside their original counterparts. We consider our collection as a source of raw inspiration for innovative ideas. We invite you to download and remix our collection, taking it in new and exciting directions. We'd love to hear about the fresh forms and uses you find for our objects – share your creations with us by sending an email!
