I was fed up with how awkwardly the bow attached to the instrument. Originally, it would brush against the strings, leaving a trail of rosin powder in its wake, forcing me to clean them every time I wanted to play. This issue was finally addressed with my bow hook design. You may need to make some minor adjustments to get it just right for your instrument. Strings normally run from the soundbox, over the bridge, and under the rope - a chaotic mess. I created a separate hook for the string to simplify things. It's now much easier to remove the strings, and adjusting the position of the hook is a breeze. The rope has two essential functions. Firstly, it prevents string vibrations from traveling up to the back. Secondly, it ensures both strings are the same length, assuming the bridge isn't set crooked. My design allows you to have the strings either separated or together, just like before. For a dampening effect, try placing a thin piece of fabric between the hook and the strings - fold it a few times for optimal results.
