Ergonomic Pen - Takes a Standard Biro Inner
cults3d
Here's an easy-to-print ergonomic pen with both right and left-handed grips, along with a holder that fits any standard ballpoint pen inner perfectly. Once the inner has run out of ink, you can simply pull the pen apart and reuse it with another ballpoint pen. I initially considered selling this design, but then decided against it because I saw how it could help people with dexterity problems and wanted to give back to the community instead. Feedback on this first version of the pen is greatly appreciated. Note that the ballpoint pen inner will need to be trimmed down to size - I've included a photo showing the dimensions I used, but you may find it's best to insert the pen into the end of the pen and measure the gap in the middle to get an accurate length for your print. Some biro inserts didn't work because the ink was too far up the shaft, so they couldn't be cut short enough. However, most did fit perfectly. I've updated the STL file so that the holes for the ballpoint pen insert have a 0.2 layer covering them, making it possible to print the grip without any support material. The hole is easily opened up with a knife, allowing you to fit the ballpoint pen insert inside.
