Ergodox thumb keys stabilizer mounting plate
thingiverse
Whether assembling your Ergodox incorrectly or deliberately omitting the plate, you may still want to utilize stabilizers for the 2u keys on each side. Initially, I started by cutting out the correct area from Diomedia_be's design and then fine-tuned it until my plate-mount stabilizers fit properly in position. A slight chamfer was added to clear small solder bumps from through-hole diodes as well. This model should print on almost any 3D printer without support needed. Why would I intentionally assemble my Ergodox incorrectly, though? Using PCB-mount switches provides sufficient stability for most switch positions without requiring a plate, and I thought a bare PCB might look cool. Additionally, I plan to extensively tinker with this one, incorporating new electronics like an LCD and writing my own firmware. UPDATE: Apparently 0.5mm makes a significant difference in whether or not a stabilizer binds up when you press a key down. A revised version 6 of the files has been uploaded to address this issue.
