Equation Driven Involute Curve Spur Gear Tooth Form in Solidworks
grabcad
A true involute tooth form is presented in this template, which is driven by an equation. It provides a stable structure, but may break if input values exceed its capacity. To resolve this, adjust the value within acceptable limits such as tip radii or root radii, number of teeth, or pressure angle. The template uses global variables like pitch diameter, pressure angle, and number of teeth in Solidworks. Users can also change addendum and dedendum values. Calculated parameters include AngleA, AngleB, diametrical pitch, outside diameter, and dedendum radius. Sketch dimensions are derived from global variables. The parametric equation for involute form is defined with parameterized curve Xt and Xy. This gear model was designed to use given pitch diameter and number of teeth values, allowing non-standard pressure angles for EDM profiles. However, it can be modified to accept diametrical pitch and tooth count inputs to determine the pitch diameter.
