I design a new NEMA 17 mount for EQ5 mounts. The system fits perfectly with a 16t GT2 belt on the motor and a 60t GT2 belt on the screw, using a 180mm belt in each axis. The new design allows M5 nuts to fit well in each support, with holes that are about 4.8mm in diameter. You can try threading them, but I'm not sure how many threads will be strong enough. During my work on upgrading the electronic board to OnStep, I wanted to change the transmission to a belt system and use a NEMA 17 motor. Now, I have achieved go-to functionality with really low backlash. I also added a support for a 9-pin connector, similar to a serial connection.
