A faulty hinge caused the paper tray door on my parents' Epson Artisan 725 printer to break off. As a solution, one can attach an alternative part into the unused slot behind the hinge, allowing the new hinge to extend outside the tray. This method might work better with ABS instead of PLA, which resulted in a melted appearance and required cleaning up the shaft for proper fitting.
