Epidemic Essentials: Masks Kit
thingiverse
During this COVID-19 pandemic, surgical masks are in short supply worldwide. While supplies are gradually improving in some regions, it remains extremely challenging to acquire masks for children. This design allows you to: 1. Create a mask using materials readily available at home 2. Provide some level of protection while commercial masks remain scarce 3. Customize the mask to fit any size from child to adult 4. Add an elastic band for extended wear 5. Dispose of the mask if made with paper, eliminating concerns about contamination 6. Wash and reuse the mask if made with cloth material When choosing materials, select paper that has some water-repelling properties, such as magazine pages, to effectively repel droplets. This kit consists of: - A stencil for drawing out the shape of the mask - A filter component Instructions: 1. Print all three STL files: - Mask-Filter v20_stencil.stl & Mask-Filter v24-stencil-kid.stl: Stencils for tracing out the mask on your material - Mask-Filter_v20_top.stl & Mask-Filter_v20_bottom.stl: Filter parts 2. Find any suitable material such as magazine pages or cloth 3. Identify a material that will serve as a filter, such as a circular piece of surgical mask, face cotton pad, or kitchen towel 4. Use the stencil to draw out the required shape on your chosen material 5. Assemble the filter into the cut-out shape with the filtering material 6. If desired, attach an elastic band by folding the ear pieces and securing it in place. Refer to the attached photo for guidance.
