ePIc Droid ID10 Star Wars Inspired raspberry pi 2 and 3 case
thingiverse
I started with a simple goal, replicating the ID10 droid from Star Wars Battlefront II. Once I had a decent replica, I disassembled it to create a Raspberry Pi case. The result exceeded my expectations, and I'm excited to share it with you. Download the design, give it a try, and don't forget to come back and show your appreciation. If you can't afford a small donation, please share your own creations – I'd love to see what you're working on. Features of this design include: * The body can accommodate a Raspberry Pi 2 or 3. * A mounting spot is provided for a 40 x 40 x 10mm fan. * The nose cone has clearance for an LED connected directly to the Pi. * An opening allows for the installation of a 3mm jack, HDMI, and power plug (you'll need low-profile versions of these cables to fit in the cavity, especially the HDMI). * I highly recommend using this HDMI cable: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00T58JH98 * Air intakes around the perimeter ensure airflow into the Pi cavity. * The design is compatible with a 90-degree HDMI adapter for running HDMI out of the bottom instead of the side. * A universal mount system allows you to easily attach or detach the droid portion from the legs. Special notes: * Limited access is available to the GPIO pins. * Unfortunately, there's no direct access to ribbon cable ports on the Pi through the case. You can potentially create slots with a Dremel if needed. I wish I had more experience in finishing because this design could truly shine with proper attention and a professional finish. Required hardware: * A Raspberry Pi 2 or 3 (of course) * Four #4 x 3/8 screws to mount the Pi into the body * Three #5 x 3/8-1/2 long screws to attach covers to the body * Four 3mm or equivalent x 1/2" long screws with corresponding nylock nuts to attach legs to the body and base (or you can use tape and an 8-32 screw) Optional: * A 40 x 40 x 10mm 5v fan * Four #4 x 3/8" long screws for mounting the fan * A 5mm LED (you'll want to connect it to the 3V port on the Pi) * If you prefer not to print one yourself, I offer this design in my Etsy shop: https://www.etsy.com/listing/578661805
