Miletus (Turkey); from a 1905 division of finds Marble, circa 540 - 520 BC The head of this block-like seated figure was shrouded in a veil, remnants of which still cling to its shoulders. Such head coverings are frequently seen in Archaic depictions of women in Miletus. Following damage, its head was replaced with a roughly cut mortise. This object is part of "Scan The World", a non-profit initiative launched by MyMiniFactory.
