Enthroned woman

Enthroned woman

myminifactory

This is a partly preserved marble sculpture of an unidentified woman sitting regally on a throne. The face of the sculpture was originally covered by a veil characteristic of women depicted in Miletus, but it's been removed and replaced with another face to reuse the piece. Just beside the legs of the seated figure, one can make out a rough inscription that reads 'ARTE....' - likely referring to Artemis.
