Enthroned Deity

Enthroned Deity

myminifactory

A Goddess from Tarentum is said to be the subject of this sculpture, which originates from either Tarentum or Locri, both located in Italy. The figure depicted here is undoubtedly a goddess, yet due to the absence of definitive attributes, it remains unclear which deity she represents - possibly Persephone, Hera, or Aphrodite. Assuming her right hand was once holding an offering bowl provides some insight into her function, and we can confirm that this sculpture served as a cult image in a sanctuary located in Southern Italy at some point.
