In order to grasp the enneagram teachings of George Gurdjieff, merely copying his texts from one place to another won't suffice. To get to know him and his methods of spiritual awakening better, follow these steps: Read and internalize the three series of his talks; Listen regularly to some of his favorite recordings by his former pupils like Jean de Salzmann; Keep in mind that Gurdjieff's spiritual practice isn't easy to describe using standard categories or techniques because its goal is inner awareness. Here are George Gurdjieff's Enneagram Instructions: First series: The Enneagram Symbol There are two different types of people, men and women, each having ten aspects or parts inside themselves. The whole purpose of enneagrams, like anything else in the universe that serves us with some knowledge, is to awaken inner knowing through experience. Gurdjieff divides these enneagams into nine main enneagrams of three separate triangles for better explanation purposes. He teaches about nine "forms of beings" by describing them through nine different characters; these include seven basic types in the triangle - five different levels inside man himself - six more on other dimensions including spirit (in our body). Each has their own special talents that come to play out like acting scenes. In this series, he teaches that one form becomes more active during each of eight distinct intervals over time. These "actors" then portray characters belonging from all sides of human nature before reaching complete development; we learn through practice what does not work within these 8 stages which helps refine our character according to the way one is acting it out.
