This is a machine for making printed circuit boards. It works by firing an ultraviolet laser at a photosensitive film stuck to the copper-covered board. Parts needed (links just for reference): 2x nema 17 steppers 4x 8mm diameter rods 8x 8mm bushing (https://www.aliexpress.com/item/10pcs-SF-1-0810-Self-Lubricating-Composite-Bearing-Bushing-Sleeve-8-10-10mm/1393921440.html) 1x PC case or wooden box 2x M5 threaded rods 8x M5 nuts 2x stepper motor coupler (http://www.ebay.com/itm/5x5mm-CNC-Motor-Jaw-Shaft-Coupler-5mm-To-5mm-Flexible-Coupling-OD-19x25mm-LU-/162331234217?var=&hash=item25cbb20fa9:m:m3W6cN0V5fJUprqoNVIGbfw) 20x M3 screws and nuts 1x 50mW plus UV laser (http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-Metal-Laser-Diode-LD-SLD3232VF-Fit-For-SONY-405nm-50mw-CW-Violet-Blue-1PC-/232136388708?hash=item360c683064:g:sj8AAOSwB09YIEZg) 1x laser housing (http://www.ebay.com/itm/2pcs-12x40mm-Metal-Housing-Case-for-5-6mm-TO-18-Laser-Diode-w-200nm-1100nm-Lens-/252086841192?hash=item3ab18bef68:g:mbwAAOSw4SlV8R~r) 1x laser heatsink (http://www.ebay.com/itm/Promotion-Special-Offer-Cooling-Heatsink-Heat-Sink-for-12mm-Laser-Diode-Module-/231319696413?hash=item35dbba741d:g:LggAAOSwEK9UAJH8) 4x MR95ZZ bearings 2x springs, ID: 6mm, length: 10mm 2x a4988 or DRV8825 stepper drivers 2x a4988 extension board (http://www.ebay.com/itm/A4988-DRV8825-3D-Printer-Stepper-Motor-Driver-Control-Extension-Boards-/321746391773?hash=item4ae99452dd:g:KI8AAOSwBLlVSJB3) [optional] 1x STM32F103C8T6 development board (http://www.ebay.com/itm/ARM-Cortex-M3-STM32F103C8T6-STM32-Minimum-System-Development-Board-/381374722304?hash=item58cbb47100:g:S0cAAOxyni9S~0Fd) 1x laser driver or current limiter 1x transistor or mosfet for laser PWM Firmware: https://github.com/bngreen/Engraver-Firmware Host Application: https://github.com/bngreen/Engraver-Host Electronics: https://circuitmaker.com/Projects/Details/Bruno-Green/Engraver [untested] Instructions coming soon Safety Precautions Always wear proper safety glasses rated for the wavelength of your laser, even 5mW lasers can cause eye damage. Firing the laser with PWM and low duty rate does not make it safe to look at without protective gear. Be cautious with reflective surfaces, as most goggles do not protect against laser reflections. Never point the laser at anyone's eyes, even with safety glasses on.
