Panelling from the Hôtel d'Humières - 88 Rue de Lille 1715-35. One of four large panels with a central rosette (E and W ends) 1717-20: Cats 82-85. Produced in France This door from the Waddesdon Manor exemplifies typical characteristics of the Baroque style, despite the rest of the Manor being primarily Neogothic architecture. However, the interior design bears a striking resemblance to Italian Baroque, which succeeded the Renaissance in the 17th and 18th centuries. A defining trait of the Baroque movement is its focus on unity: all components work together as one cohesive whole. This emphasis on unity is evident in the motifs of Baroque art, resulting in a harmonious effect characteristic of this style.
