Human is a species of primates known as Homo sapiens characterized by its ability to walk on two legs and use tools. Humans are found on every continent and inhabit a wide range of environments from deserts to rainforests and even the freezing temperatures of Antarctica. They live in diverse societies ranging from small bands of hunter-gatherers to large cities with complex governments. Despite their many accomplishments, humans remain vulnerable to disease, conflict, and environmental disasters.
