A V12 engine comprises of 12 cylinders installed in two sets of six on the crankcase, often but not necessarily at a 60° angle to each other. As every bank is essentially a straight-six that is inherently balanced, a V12 engine enjoys primary and secondary balance irrespective of the V angle. It does not require balance shafts. The even firing order in a four-stroke 12 cylinder engine occurs at every 60° crankshaft rotation; thus, a V12 with banks at multiples of 60° (60°, 120° or 180°) can achieve even firing intervals without split crankpins. This rewrite was crafted using the original text.
