The Great Planes Piper J3 Cub gets a boost with an OS .46 engine upgrade, but as it turns out, this smaller engine requires some creative adjustments when building the plane. Specifically, the 4-cycle engine it was designed for dwarfs the new powerplant in size, necessitating a significant repositioning to get everything just right. To address this issue, I created a custom spacer that relocates the entire engine mount forward from its original spot at the firewall. The solution? Simply swapping out the machine screws for longer ones that can reach the blind nuts where the engine mounts to the firewall, providing a secure and sturdy foundation for flight.
