People rely on four-stroke piston engines to power vehicles and machinery. This engine type operates by completing a four-stage process: intake, compression, power, and exhaust. In the intake stage, the piston moves downward, creating a vacuum that draws in air and fuel through the intake valves. As the piston reaches the bottom of its stroke, the intake valves close, and the piston begins to move upward, compressing the air-fuel mixture inside the combustion chamber. This compressed mixture is then ignited by a spark plug, causing the piston to rapidly move downward again. The movement of the piston creates torque, which is transmitted to the crankshaft.
