This "thing" enables the wall plate that comes with an EnGenius Access point to be mounted directly onto a standard network jack wall plate. To conceal it, use a 4-inch network cable that can easily be hidden behind the access point once installed. You also have the option of adding two M3 threaded inserts (easily inserted using a soldering iron) at https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01IYWTCWW/ref=oh_aui_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1.
