The monumental sculpture, created by the renowned artist Constantin Brâncuși, was unveiled in Târgu Jiu, Romania on October 27, 1938. This majestic work of art pays tribute to the young Romanian lives lost during World War I. Drawing inspiration from the traditional funerary pillars found in southern Romania, Brâncuși simplified and reimagined these structures into a striking, modern piece. Standing tall at an impressive height of 29.33 meters, The Endless Column is comprised of 17 intricately designed diamond-shaped cast iron modules. Note that due to the inherent flexibility of these modules, a small degree of play exists; therefore, they must be carefully aligned and glued together to achieve a perfectly rectilinear appearance.
