This toothbrush crafted from intricately carved bone was unearthed from a privy linked to a notorious brothel that once occupied Endicott Street in Boston's North End. One of several toothbrushes recovered alongside numerous artifacts related to personal grooming, the handle showcases two snake heads facing each other as if they are simultaneously devouring their common prey. Discoveries such as these offer a glimpse into the daily routines of those who lived and worked within Boston's 19th century red light district, also conveying an air of elegance and perhaps a hint of humor!
