**Ender3v2 attachment for bed and Z chains - better hooks and prints without any support!** **Please check photos below!** # General info # This remix is based on wku_wake's "Ender 3 v2 attachment for bed and Z chains" remix. The overall idea was great but there are some details I pretty disliked - first, his version requires support to print which adds far too much to printing time, so I changed the design slightly to remove the need of the support w/o loosing any functionality - by adding 45 degs mount anges vs original 90 degs. This + rotating the model upside down let's me print the whole thing with no support at all - my print time was 2h 39m and I used small, low-density raft, just in case. https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4565091 Another thing - it appears that the way he hooks into the rails is not solid. In my case it simply did not lock properly at all and pop up easily, so I made another version and completely changed the way this thing locks to the rails. But again -> please print the sample first to see if that snaps in your rails nicely. Sample prints in 5 minutes while the whole thing takes bit longer :) # Files # **original_no_support.stl** - this is my remix of wku's design which prints with support neeed. Please print sample file first and check if it holds strong in your rails. It did not for my Ender, so I made snap-in version and I recommend you try that one first. **snap-in.stl** aside from the change made to original desing (so no support is needed for printing), this one additionally comes with completely reworked rail hooks. It should snap in and hold far better than original design. Please print the sample first and check. **cableChain_link_v3_42pcs.stl** and **cableChain_linkCover_v2_42pcs.stl** - are taken from johnniewhiskey's "cableChain link v3" and "cableChain linkCover v2" STLs, multiplicated to have 42 pieces packed in one print. I manually arranged all the pieces to minimize travel and occupied area, yet it still needs 13h39mins to print (links) and 2h for covers, so be patient :) **NOTE:** I ended up using just 19 chain segments (see pics below), so check if you really need 42 (most likely not). Single items are also available as **cableChain_link_v3_1pcs.stl** and **cableChain_linkCover_v2_1pcs.stl** https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2920060 **slot_covers.stl** - if you are using slot covers, then you may want to have the back of the rails covered too. As the mount clips into the rails, covers have to be adjusted as well. My version of slot covers fits my current design - the mount takes 25 mm of the rail, 25 mm remains till the end and there's remaining 92,7mm in front (my back rail is 142.7 mm total). **NOTE:** you may want to merge short cover with snap-in mount to have them connected. The cover is based on v3 of the D1 covers from this project: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4579489 * 16 slim chain link and slim chain link cover from slim chain x axis by Norp. You will also need Norp's hot end mount and extruder mount. There are many extruder mounts listed, follow his directions to pick the appropriate one. On my v2 it was the 28mm stock extruder mount. https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4314829 # Print params # * Infill: 10%-15% * Support: NO * Raft: optional (really small one should suffice if you decide to go with one). * Layer: 0.2 * Material: PLA * Temp: 200C * Bed: 60C The mesh under clips part is a raft, but with reduced number of layers and increased spacing: * raft extra margin: 4 * raft top layers: 1 * raft top spacing: 1.2 * raft middle thickness: 0.2 * raft base line spacing: 1.6 * raft middle spacing: 3 * raft middle thickness: 0.2 --- # Changelog # * 2021-01-24: Added single item STLs for cable chain link and cover files. * 2020-11-10: Added rail covers fitting to complete the mount. * 2020-11-09: Added other parts of the chains. * 2020-11-09: Added "snap-in" version with redesigned mount hooks. * 2020-11-08: Added `v1_sample.stl` to let you ensure design works for you. * 2020-11-08: initial remix.
