I liked the original design but it didn't fit the wider Y-Axis rail the Ender 3 Pro has. And just shortening it by scaling in your slicer is going to make the SD Card holder too thin to work. Not to mention that the Pro has a different orientation of the main board case, making the USB port and the micro SD problematic to fit. # The Changes from the Original: I've pushed this design around to suit the Ender 3 Pro, if you have the standard Ender 3, then use the [original from suitx](https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3048888). I've shortened up the length and moved the SD Card holder so it will all fit nicely and play. * I've also added a button holder for the momentary switch so it is nice and tidy. * Print this with 100% infill as it will bear the brunt of use and you don't want it failing. I've superglued it to the bottom of the switch and then to the cover, letting the button locate where it should be. * The switch and cap can be found here, and the cap fits nicely in the hole without adjustment. An old USB cable is perfect * Heatshrink * Dupont connectors or 2 female Dupont Jumper cables ### Tools * Soldering Iron * Patience # Wiring and configuration: ### How to wire a button: * [Adding a Power Button to a Pi](https://howchoo.com/g/mwnlytk3zmm/how-to-add-a-power-button-to-your-raspberry-pi) * Using 1.Option 2: Solder your own button assembly * and 3.Option 1: Use the install script (easiest) ### How to wire a status LED: * [Adding an LED to a Pi](https://howchoo.com/g/ytzjyzy4m2e/build-a-simple-raspberry-pi-led-power-status-indicator) * Using Option 1. Software approach: * and if building with a Pi4 you will need to modify your config.txt file, instructions in the link. # All wired up * I went with a green LED in line with the OctoPi colours * I decided to run the OctoPi control cable back under the printer and the USB cable down the outside, as the printer is slightly elevated with the space to do so. * I've also had comms issues in the past and wanted to avoid the EMF interference of the bed and steppers. Thus the big ferrite on the USB, which sort of dictated this approach and the USB cable won't fit through the smaller hole. # Bits and Pieces * The cable management clips for the USB cable are from this remix [3.5mm Cable Management](https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4330532) * The [Dampener Feet are from this Thingy](https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2913473). I highly recommend this Thingy as it makes a massive difference to the printing noise. Also I suggest printing in PETg or similar flexible filament type * And the printer in use [Mini Stand is from this collection of Thingys](https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1977933) * And my [OctoPi is located in this Thingy](https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3483446), with some subtle mods for the Pi4 I figured out later... ## For the control cable: * I used a salvaged USB cable that had damaged plugs, being 4 wire it is perfect for this job. Remember to wire a 330-ohm resistor in series on the -ve side of the LED to manage voltage/current. ## Orignal design from [suitx](https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3048888)
