I upgraded my Creality Ender 3 main board cover to accommodate a stock 40mm fan, which I mounted from below using M3 12mm screws. This custom cover is 3mm thick, matching the thickness of the SD card front panel. You can find the design on Thingiverse at https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3455823. After installing the main board's v1.1.5 upgrade and adding a buck converter for my 12v fans, I found that the case cover became too tight. To address this issue, I designed a new cover that raises the roof by 10mm and allows heat to escape through the back of the printer. To print this cover successfully, turn your Ender 3 upside down with the fan facing the build plate, and use supports from the build plate only. A 20% infill setting works well, but be careful not to crush the screws in place during printing.
