Ender Extruder Cooling Fan conversion to 60 x 60 x 10 Fan.

Ender 40 x 40 conversion to 60 x 60 Fan. This is a conversion to change the 40 x 40 fan to a 60 x 60 x 10 fan. The main reason is to reduce the noise of the 40 x 40. A 60 x 60 fan will move over twice as much air as a 40 x 40, so it can be run slower, thus reducing the noise substantially. With my set up I got a 12V 60 x 60 as they are much easier to source, combined with a small buck converter, I run this fan at 7V, (if you stick with a 24V fan I would run it at around 13V). At this rate it is virtually silent. The mounting is slightly tricky though! You will need to use allen headed screws to fit through the holes, (I used a bit of blue tac to stick the screws onto the end of the allen key whilst I passed them through the fan cowel), don’t over tighten! Use some small self tapping screws to fasten the fan to the cowel. The existing nozzle cooler can be used but I printed this as an alternative: (CR-10 Fan Mod - Airflow Optimization) – there are several that you can try. You will also need a small buck converter, which needs to be soldered into the 24V fan supply – I mounted mine near the filament holder, with some T nuts. You will also have to cut the plug off the fan so you can pass the wires through for neatness and solder to the supply, (use heat shrink or tape to protect). The result is almost silence, from this fan. As an aside once I had done this mod I realised that the main power supply fan was now the source of noise so I fitted a 45 degree thermostat in series with it. It turns out that the power supply runs at more than 45 degrees normally, so this mod was only partially effective!! Maybe I should have gone with a 55 degree stat! Print with supports – flange down.
