Ender 6 - Filament Runout Sensor Fix
thingiverse
One of my Ender 6 machines kept telling me there was no filament, however there being an entire roll hanging on the holder I knew that couldn't be correct. So apparently there is a bit of an issue with the Filament Runout Sensor. If there is a slight bow in the filament, it doesn't trigger the sensor. The filament runout sensor is rather basic, its the same sensor you find for the end stops.. Also if the filament is pushed through the hole, it can push the little roller up and away from the filament resulting in the sensor not working at all... So I made a little piece to stick inside the sensor housing to sorta hold it in place. This has been working great for me so far, have not had any issues with the Runout Sensor falsely telling me the is no filament. (One of the dumbest things I've seen on this printer, is that you can not use the E motor to retract the filament, if the sensor does not work. There's no option to disable the sensor or anything. Super dumb!.. anyways Rant done.) I hope this helps if you're having the same issue that I was. I'm not sure if its the only thing out there, and I'm sure it could have been designed better by many.. but it works, so that's what matter right ;) lol
