Ender 5/Pro/Plus VORON Afterburner Direct Drive Mount

Ender 5/Pro/Plus VORON Afterburner Direct Drive Mount

What is it? ======== This mount allows the use of the direct drive quick change toolhead by VORON Designs called the Afterburner on a Creality Ender 5/Pro/Plus. The Afterburner is the latest toolhead from Voron and offers the flexibility to use three different hotends: E3D V6, Slice Engineering Mosquito, and Trianglelab Dragon. It features the inner workings of a BMG dual drive extruder and a pancake stepper, designed to save weight. I was building a Voron 2.4 when I encountered issues with the stock hotend fan causing printed parts to be washed with cool air and affecting ABS printing. Another user, @Adiyahu, had created a mount for the CR10, which inspired me to create this design. This mount keeps the Afterburner completely stock, allowing any future improvements from Voron Design to be easily adopted without modifications. It does not require altering the stock X plate, except for switching the button head nut on the bottom wheel. Installation: ======== You will need: * 2 x M3 Tapered Heat-set Threaded Insert (5x4mm) * 1 x M3x30 SHCS * 2 x M3x16 SHCS * 2 x M3x8 BHCS The images show where to install the heatsets and M3x16. The M3x30 is used to bolt both halves of the mount together, while the M3x8 attach the mount to the original hotend mount posts. Printing the Afterburner: ======== This mount can accommodate either the VORON Afterburner beta or the latest version from the 2.4 printer (recommended). I will not cover printing settings here, as they are available on the Voron website. I would like to design a way to use cable chain with the AB, either printed or purchased with the Ender 5/Pro. There is currently no option for a BLTouch or other bed levelling system in this mount. I have no intention of trying to include the VORON inductive sensor, as it would require a non-stock board and lose too much Y axis space. Print Settings: ========== Printer brand: Creality Printer: Ender 5 Rafts: No Supports: No Resolution: 0.2 Infill: 40% Filament_brand: eSun ABS+ Filament_material: ABS Notes: The VORON Afterburner and this mount were designed to be printed in ABS. You may get away with other materials, but I recommend using a low warp ABS variant like eSun ABS+ (it's also low odor) and some form of enclosure for optimal results. This design has tight tolerances, so you will need to have tuned your printer to be accurate in X Y Z and its extrusion. If you are going to print an AB, you will already have done this.
