Ender 5 Plus Linear Rail Gantry Upgrade
thingiverse
This is a complete overhaul of the ender 5 plus's gantry. After trying the Merc One core-xy mod, I found that the belts were far too long to prevent ringing, and the belt path too complex to avoid problems. Also, the stock belt arrangement really sucked. So, I designed this, inspired heavily by the Voron and Merc One's designs. This mod uses a 2:1 gear ratio on the Y axis motor to help avoid ringing and is designed to use the Voron afterburner with a standard Voron mount. I also have a design that allows for a second linear rail to be mounted underneath the X-axis aluminum extrusion, so I may upload that if there is any interest. Also, you will need to trim the X-axis strut to 500mm. I found that most of the 20-40T sets on amazon come in packs of two, so at some point I may upgrade this design with another 2:1 gear ratio for the X-axis motor. Also don't forget to download the CAD Drawings if you need help assembling this. You do need to modify your firmware to run this, feel free to message me if you need help compiling it. If enough people need it however, I may upload compiled firmware at some point. I might also make a drag chain adapter at some point. As personal preference, I used 2A 0.9deg motors on my printer, I do not know what the max current the stock motherboard is but do remember to check if you're going to use the stock motherboard. Also, the stock motherboard may have trouble keeping up if you're going fast with the 2:1 gear ratio on the Y-axis (it definitely will have a problem if you're going with high micro-stepping or using 0.9deg motors like me).
