Ender 5 Plus Case Cover for Noctua 92mm Fans
thingiverse
A replacement case cover for the Ender 5 Plus, allowing you to mount two Noctua 92mm fans to keep the system cool, and quiet. The main reason I did this was to prevent the power supply fan from turning on, as it's louder than most commercial airliners. The power supply fan is still in place however, I've not had it turned on once since installing this mod. I de-lidded the power supply so that it could receive direct airflow from the Noctua fan above it. My Ender 5 Plus came with the Mean Well RSP-500-24 PSU, so is temperature regulated therefore, adding the additional cool airflow helped to keep the power supply below the threshold to turn the fan on. The cover comes in two parts, for ease of printing. Bill of materials is as follows: * Original case bolts (x6), * 2x M3x20 bolts, * M3x16 bolts (just enough to hold the fans in, minimum 4 - two per fan), * 2x Noctua 92mm fan. Installation is pretty straight forward and is illustrated in the pictures. In my application, I used Noctua's 92x14mm fans due to their low profile. Other 92mm fans may also work, but are untested. In my configuration, the fans are always on. This means that, as a result of the power supply being de-lidded, the power supply internals have a constant flow of air which keeps them cool enough to stop the actual power supply fan turning on. The original power supply fan is still in its original location, and plugged in. This way it acts as a sort of "alarm" in the sense that if it turns on, I know something is wrong. The fans are connected via one of the splitters that the fans come with, through a buck converter providing 12V from the power supply, meaning that the fans are always on. ## **Update 03/09/2021** Uploaded V2 of the plate. The biggest difference is the updated tolerances which help to reduce deformation of the plate due to the fitment being quite tight on V1. V2 is also available in 1mm and 2mm thicknesses for if you'd prefer it to have a low profile, and use less filament, or be more rigid, but use more filament. Like V1, STL and STEP files have been provided for V2, but with more configurations available. I've created more variants for V2 to make it easier for printing and modifying should you choose to do so.
