Ender 5 Mosquito/NF Crazy OEM fans
thingiverse
The goals: Create an adapter to use a mosquito/NFCrazy hot end on an Ender 5 while still retaining the stock fan setup and wiring. Stock parts cannot be modified so that any changes from stock set up should be reversible. No wires cut, spliced, or replaced. Retain stock bowden tube. Keep the nozzle position as close as possible to the stock nozzle. Provide a mount for the BLTouch. I wanted it to be compact and clean looking like the stock setup, but also lighter. The stock metal fan shroud mounting bolts (M3x6) are reused to mount the adapter. A third 3mm mounting hole above the BLtouch is optional. Print the main body with the big fan hole facing the sky and use tree supports (buildplate only). Supports are not needed for the other parts. 10 Heat set inserts are required: QTY 2: M2 x D4 x L3.0 for mount clamp QTY 4: M2 x D4 x L3.0 for part cooling fan QTY 4: M3 x D4.6 x L3.0 for Main fan Installation is a bit fidgety, but not difficult: Test fit your hotend into the groove and clamp before mounting anything, they should snap together hard the first time, and then slightly easier but very firmly after that. Depending on your print quality and hotend size, you may need to scrape an edge of the groove mount. I tested 3 different hotends and two fit perfectly, one was tight. Mount the main body to the printer carriage with the (M3x6) stock bolts Feed the heater and thermistor wires through the top of the adapter, exiting the bottom. Then, install the heater and thermistor into your heat block, on the right side. Bend the wires up 90 degrees to run along the mosquito heatsink. Feed the assembled hotend back up through the bottom of the adapter and snap into mounting groove, with the wires in the space on the right side. Snap the mounting clamp into place (there is a small assembly mark on the clamp that faces down toward the bed when assembled, its hard to see, I should have made it larger. It is a "V" shape that makes an "X" when assembled to the main adaptor body). Insert M2 screws to clamp the hotend to the main body. On the right side screw, you can pass the allen wrench through the upper right main fan mounting hole. Make sure the clamp is fully seated BY HAND before tightening down the screws. DONT USE THE SCREWS TO PULL IT ALL TOGETHER, or you may pull out one of the inserts Attach the stock fans and cooling duct using their mounting screws. Add BLTouch: Z offset for me was -4.19, but adjust yours accordingly. Add main fan shroud (optional), friction fit Overall the nozzle came out about 4mm higher than stock, so no build space was lost and the entire assembly weighs 38 grams less than the stock setup. I can add a zesty nimble or similar drive and still weigh less than stock.
