Ender 5 Electronics Case Extension
thingiverse
This extension is designed specifically for the stock Ender 5 Electronics enclosure. Its main purpose is to allow users to install upgraded boards such as the SKR 1.3. The existing designs available did not meet expectations, so a new solution was created. This design ensures that the factory board cooling fan and location are retained. The extension is compatible with the Ender 5 Rear Mount Electronics & Power Bracket, which can be found on Thingiverse at https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3830464. Additionally, the Ender 5 - SKR 1.3 adapter was used in this project, available on Thingiverse at https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3981935. Four M3x20 screws are required to secure these brackets in place. With this bracket, some of the existing vent holes need to be cut out to access the USB and SDCard slot. A longer LCD Ribbon is necessary to connect the stock display. The Bottom Left corner bracket features a cutout for the ribbon to exit the case and run back to the display. The design consists of five pieces to allow customization for specific needs or uses, as each corner requires different gaps for the rear mount brackets, LCD ribbon, and other components. A center piece is available for the top and bottom that can be used if desired locations for wiring exit are required. Screw holes have been expanded to accommodate variations in mounting, but it's recommended to drill them out slightly to ensure proper fitment and secure installation. This extension was created by an individual with no prior 3D design experience, so feedback is welcome and appreciated.
