Ender 5 Easy Compressive Bed Supports
thingiverse
After doing some upgrades to my Ender, I wanted to replace the bed supports that I had been using for a while (the old ones were damaged). My go-to bed supports have always been a pain to print (especially after I remixed someone else's supports). So I created a brand new design that : * Prints easily * Fits on the print bed easily * Holds up better than other designs * Doesn't require unique left/right pieces * Adjustable In fact, everything you need can be printed at once in a 7-8 hour print. NOTE: I highly recommend using a very high infill (I used 85%). Also needed: * 4x 4mm nuts * 2x 4mm screws (the longer the better) Print count: * 1x Front Bracket * 2x Strut * 2x Bearing Bracket Instructions: Take each bearing bracket and install on the linear bearing on each side of the print bed. Thread a 4mm nut on the existing screw to hold in place (it's a pain, but it can be done). Tighten this as much as possible. I only put one nut on each bracket, but you could use two on each if you're feeling paranoid. On each strut put a nut with a screw. Tighten the screw all the way. If this is loose, that's ok. The pressure of the system will keep the nut in the hole. Install the front bracket under the front of the print bed. Install a strut on each side. The fat end with the curve into the square hole on the bearing bracket, the end with the screw and the nut should fit into the recessed hole on the front bracket. You may need to stick a screw driver through the hole on the front of the front bracket and turn the screw out to get it to seat. At this point, you can now use your screwdriver through the hole on the front of the bracket to adjust the strut. Unscrewing the screw increases tension and raises the front of the bed. I recommend tightening all of your bed springs, adjust the struts, then dial in your bed. I used a combination of my BL Touch and the Bed Visualizer plugin for Octoprint to tune my struts. Note that 1/2 a turn on the screw is equal to about a full turn on the bed springs.
