WORK IN PROGRESS! This mount is designed for the Ender 5, but there are known issues and weirdnesses that need to be addressed. I'm using this mount every day, and while it works, I'm still working out some kinks. This mount was created to address some of the shortcomings of other mounts on the Ender 5. Its main goals are: * Be easy to work on: This mod provides plenty of room to swap out your nozzle by taking off the BLTouch and Main fan. * Provide good visibility of the nozzle from both sides: No hidden screws that have to be put in the right order, or from the back. No nuts in places you can't reach with the hotend assembled and in place (there's one optional one in the build). * Keep the hotend in its stock position: This means you can use the MDD plastic mount that comes with it. * Take up as little space as possible: You will lose around 3mm on the Y axis with this mod from stock, some other mounts lose as much as 20-25mm. * Securely fasten the blower fans so they don't rattle like they do in some other mounts * Keep thin plastic away from the hotend so it doesn't melt even when printed in PLA. Current Issues: * Need to add cable management: This is a priority, and I'll get around to fixing it soon. * Need to rework the BLTouch mount: It works fine, but it's clearly an afterthought on the design and doesn't look great. * Revisit segmentation of the mount: Reduce support requirements and printing time (It's a fairly long print time with lots of supports needed at the moment). I believe I've fixed all the places where I had to snip a little plastic away in this version. Compatibility I have only tested this with the following configuration: * Creality Ender 5/Pro * MicroSwiss Hotend (the mounts are the same for the stock hotend, but the blower scoops may not be quite right) * Printermods MDD Direct Drive Kit * Dual 5015 blower fans * 4020 Main Fan * Optional: BLTouch Printing Works fine with PLA. I recommend printing with high infill and potentially extra outside layers for additional durability and rigidity. Requires a lot of supports. Assembly Requires various m3 nuts and bolts, and a couple of M4s for the blower fans. I'll try to get an exact BOM next time I have it apart. Would appreciate anyone printing/building sharing the parts they used and any issues they ran into. The hardest part is getting the right length of bowden tube with the MicroSwiss + MDD combination--I'd recommend doing that first, and before you put everything else together. * Press the 4 m3 nuts into the back side of the main bracket. I recommend using pliers to pinch them into place, they should fit snugly and stick quite well. * Attach the main bracket to the MDD, * Attach the extruder to the MDD following the MDD instructions (if you're using a microswiss, your bowden tube length with be different than their instructions) * Install the hotend using the bolts stock bolts * Place the 4020 fan between the plastic plates of the blower scoop and install it on top of the main bracket, attach with 4 bolts if not using BLTouch, skip the bottom left bolt if using a BLTouch (for now). * If installing a new nozzle, heat your nozzle at this point and tighten it (don't overtighten). * Let your nozzle cool. * Install the 5015 blower fans (and BLTouch bracket on the left side, if you're using it)--I recommend skipping the lower bolt on the right side, the compression of the plastic on both sides of the blower holds it securely enough with one bolt. * Reconnect all the wires and jig up some cable management until I get around to fixing it ;) Feedback Please provide feedback and problems in the comments and I'll try to update accordingly.
