Ender 5 Direct Drive Conversion Bracket
thingiverse
This is a bracket for converting an Ender 5 to direct drive using only stock parts. You move the extruder and extruder motor onto this bracket, which is located over the printhead housing. The extruder faces forward for easy filament loading. This conversion is basically a free way to change your Ender 5 to direct drive. All you need to supply are the filament to print the bracket, an extension cable for the extruder motor, and your time. This is optimized to be drop in compatible with an Ender 5 plus. When assembling, you can optionally use M3 threaded inserts in the bracket and drill two holes in the Ender 5 printhead back plate. This is not necessary, but may help print quality by reducing vibration. This is shown in the images. The holes should be checked for fit and drilled out if needed. It will depend on your print quality. This bracket also has a cutout for the X-axis limit switch. You should check that the witch can be properly activated before powering up the printer. The switch can be moved slightly front to back to adjust clearance if needed, The mount hole in the Creality end stop bracket is oval to allow some freedom to adjust. The top PTFE tube coupler hole should be tapped to M6x1, but you can just place the PTFE tube in the hole during printing. The works ok.
