This is a rough collection of the models that I used in my Ender 3v2 IDEX conversion. Hopefully the ideas are useful to inspire additional builds. It was definitely more fun than serious and most of the parts were chosen simply because that's what I had laying around.The printer itself had already been upgraded to dual z axis motors which is likely important with the added weight on the gantry. There was already a single Stealthburner mounted to the printer prior to the conversion and I moved that on to a 300mm linear rail to help facilitate the addition of a second. The rest of the motion system is original.Each toolhead can cover approximately ¾ of the bed which gives an approximate effective build area of 120x220mm for dual-material prints. A longer linear rail would increase coverage though I intend to mainly use this printer in duplication mode.Belt TensionerThe belt tensioner was inspired by Minimalist Ender 3 X Axis Tensioner. I created a new dual housing and used the internal parts from that model.Second X Axis StepperThe stock extruder motor was repurposed as the second x stepper motor. The mount comes in two pieces and can be assembled using heat-set inserts and M3 hardware.The mount replaces the existing pulley cover and eliminates the x endstop switch. Sensorless homing was used on the x axis for each carriage which simplified things greatly.Second CarriageThe Ender 3 Stealthburner mount (MGN12 linear rail) model was used for the first carriage which then inspired my second carriage. The difference in the second carriage is that the belt mounts above the x extrusion.ElectronicsA second SKR mini E3 control board was added to the printer to run the additional components. Slight modifications were made to Ender-3 V2 Front Electronics Housing to hold both boards.PrintingEverything was printed in KVP ABS with 4 perimeters and 40% infill.
