So I wanted to put on a larger motor and a dampener for the y and x-axis on my Ender 3. Turns out the motor was far too big and when I went to make a whole new bracket I had an idea: just flip the Y-axis bracket vertically and mount that way.

The new stepper clears the bed leveling knobs by a few millimeters with the plate upside down but I now needed a new Idler pulley system to keep it from catching on the 2040 bar and seeing as I have a number of GT2 pulleys sitting around from my HEVO build, I decided to put them to good use. Its always good to have spare GT2 belt pulleys around.

Final Parts List:

M3x16 machine screws (designed for socket-cap style) : 2 count

M3 Hex Nuts : 2 count GT2 20t Toothed Idler Pulley, 3mm ID : 1 count 1 GT2 16t Smooth Idler Pulley, 3mm ID : 1 count GT2 Belt : approx. 30.0625" (30 1/16 inches) or 764 mm length GT2 End Crimp : 2 Count

Its been in use for over 40 hours of print time now. Hasnt failed and actually helped reduce my Y-axis ringing I was having (0.9°/step motor with more torque might have helped too...). All the links in the parts list are listed in custom section as well for those who hate blind links.

13MAR21 Edit: Was having some squeaking issues where the bearing seals on the idlers were rubbing against the part, so I reduced the height of the standoff nubs to allow for some play. Also cleaned up the 2040 profile horns.

Print Settings

Printer Brand:

Creality

Printer:

Ender 3

Rafts:

No

Supports:

Yes

Resolution:

.2

Infill:

15% Gyroid

Filament: Overture PETG Black

Notes:

Need supports for the 2040 profile overhangs sadly

Custom Section ==============
Amazon Links to parts from Parts List

Belt: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01MRVXQ3Y/
20t Pulleys: <https: b01h3dsgac="" dp="" www.amazon.com=""></https:>
16 toothless pulley: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07BPHPYTN

Category: 3D Printer Parts
