Ender 3 Y Axis Bolt Spacer

If you're trying to add dampers to an Ender 3, your printer's carriage might crash into the stepper motor on the Y axis or you could end up with press-fit stepper gears. Either way, the solution lies in printing the adapter found here: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3245255. Alternatively, instead of purchasing new M3 bolts, you can print these spacers and utilize two bolts from your X-axis stepper. Generally speaking, when adding a damper to your X axis, you'll have two spare bolts available, but in some instances, especially if you're using an adapter, you might end up with four spare bolts. These spacers enable the use of longer 35mm bolts, but be cautious of their orientation. The top bolt must be inserted into the rearmost hole to avoid the carriage ramming issue altogether.
